VILLAGES COMBINED CONCERT BANDS

PRESENTS

A PATRIOTIC SPECTACULAR

SAVANNAH RECREATION CENTER

Monday July 3, 3 and 7pm

Each year about 100 volunteer musicians from the Bands of the Villages combine their talents to produce a rousing musical celebration of our great nation. The rehearsals for the concert are shared by conductors John Stranges and Jean Butler. Shortly before the event, they will pass the baton to Maestro Anthony J. Maillo to direct the band.

Guest conductor Maillo is a nationally acclaimed musician who publicly

says he can not live without music. The maestro is a professor of music at George Mason’s Dewberry School of Music. He is quoted as saying ,“It (music) is essential to my mental and physical well-being” and “sharing it with others is a gift and a blessing”. Professor Maillo has made many appearances both nationally and abroad conducting music festivals, adjudicating ensembles and presenting clinics, lectures and workshops.

The highlights of this year’s concert include “America the Beautiful”,

“Hymn to the Fallen”, “Band of Brothers”, and other favorite patriotic classics such as the “Armed Forces Salute”. When their service song is played, those with military careers are invited to rise to their feet and be recognized. In anticipation, those who desire are invited to wear caps signifying their branch of service.

A large portion of proceeds from the concert will go to the Fisher House located on the campus of Tampa’s Veterans’ hospital. The hotel facility is where families of hospitalized veterans are able to stay free of charge.

The Tampa Veterans hospital is designated as one of several of their

trauma centers. This means the hospital treats some of the most severely injured active duty and veteran patients in the country.

Put on your red, white, and blue and join us to enjoy the band’s annual patriotic concert tradition - The $20.00 tickets are available through the Entertainment Box Offices or via The Villages Box Office Online. The online source makes it possible for Villages residents and non-residents to order tickets anytime and anywhere! Concert tickets can be accessed at www.thevillagesentertainment.com.

Attendance Policy for playing a Concert

As we continue grow

in quality of performance

and quantity of members

it is imperative to have full attendance at rehearsals.

We all know that there are very good reasons why people are not able to attend every rehearsal

and those reasons are respected; however, the following guidelines have been established to insure the highest level of performance that we

can possibly achieve.
